On November 17, official meetings began at Kuksaroy Palace as Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited Uzbekistan on a state visit. During the visit, it was reported that trade between the two countries exceeded 1 billion dollars in 2024.

After a joint photo session, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov held closed-door talks. The visit was described as a significant step in strengthening the exemplary friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership that Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have developed in recent years.

Both sides welcomed the positive pace of cooperation across all sectors and ongoing active contacts. Intergovernmental commissions, business councils, and cultural events have been regularly held. Ahead of the visit, Turkmen Culture Days and film screenings in Urgench and Tashkent left a strong impression on participants.

Last year, trade between the two countries exceeded 1 billion dollars, with growing freight volumes, including increased activity at the Turkmenbashi port. The discussions focused on expanding mutual trade and developing effective cooperation in industry, energy, transport, machinery, agriculture, and water management.

The importance of expanding regional exchanges was also emphasized. It was agreed to hold the third Regional Forum in Khiva, and the leaders exchanged views on issues of regional and international significance.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Tashkent on November 16 for the state visit and participated in the seventh Advisory Meeting of Central Asian leaders at the Tashkent International Congress Center.
