Democratic Republic of Congo national team head coach Sebastien Desabre said his team would take risks and play only for victory in the upcoming match against Uzbekistan. He spoke about this at a press conference after the match against Colombia.
“The match against Uzbekistan will not be easy because they defend well. But we will give everything we have. Now we need to rest and recover. We will have to take risks in this match because a draw will not satisfy us. The third-round match will require a completely different approach. We will have to take more risks than in the first two games,” he said.
The coach also shared his thoughts on the defeat against Colombia.
“We must accept this defeat, keep our heads high and get back into the fight as quickly as possible. Of course, it would have been good to get a draw, but we must admit that Colombia were the stronger team. They controlled the ball very well, while we got into the game later. We played better in the second half, but this is football. We need to analyze what happened and look ahead,” Desabre said.
For reference, the match between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uzbekistan national teams will take place in Atlanta, United States, in the early hours of June 28 this year, starting at 4:30 Tashkent time. The winner of this match may finish third in the group and qualify for the playoffs as one of the best third-placed teams.
