Authorities expose multi-billion UZS gas fraud in Uzbekistan

Authorities in Khorezm Region have discovered an illegal gas usage scheme at a vehicle refueling station, causing an estimated 3.048 billion UZS in damages, according to the Electric Energy, Oil Products, and Gas Usage Control Inspection.

During a joint inspection led by Uzenergoinspeksiya, the regional prosecutor’s office, and law enforcement, the Yangibozor-based "F.G." LLC gas refueling station was found to be illegally consuming natural gas.

Investigators determined that the station tampered with its gas metering equipment, enabling it to bypass proper registration of usage. As a result, preliminary calculations revealed substantial financial losses to the gas supply company.

The case has been referred to law enforcement authorities for a pre-investigation review.

Earlier, a similar gas fraud case was detected in Navoi Region, where an LLC-operated station was found to have illegally used 26 billion UZS worth of natural gas.
