Pregnancy no longer grounds for dismissal in Uzbekistan

3052A ban on dismissing an employee due to pregnancy or having a child has been introduced in Uzbekistan. This is stated in the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Amendments and Addenda to the Labor Code, adopted yesterday, February 13.
According to it, the law introduces amendments and addenda to the Labor Code, which provide for the introduction of the procedure for drawing up an employment contract in electronic form in the interdepartmental software and hardware complex “Unified National Labor System”, changes to the procedure for determining the duration of unpaid leave, and the procedure for calculating the average salary of an employee.
Also, amendments are being made to the Law “On Education” to determine the types of educational organizations in which employees can study in the form of evening or part-time education.
In addition, a ban on dismissing an employee due to pregnancy or having a child is being introduced.
According to the amendments, state bodies and organizations will independently request information about the passport or identification ID card of the person entering the job, as well as the workbook, during the recruitment process, including through interdepartmental integration platforms in information systems.
It was determined that the labor legislation will apply to the labor relations of state civil servants in the part not regulated by the Law "On State Civil Service".
The law will enter into force on the date of its official publication.
