China's finance minister conveys Xi Jinping's greetings to Mirziyoyev

On September 25, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Chinese Minister of Finance, Lan Foan, during the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Samarkand. This was reported by the President's press service.

The Chinese Finance Minister conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, to the Uzbek leader.

"Discussions centered on the further strengthening of strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and China under all circumstances, as well as the expansion of multifaceted cooperation by high-level agreements," the report stated.

Special emphasis was placed on enhancing partnerships with major Chinese banking and financial institutions, along with support for priority investment projects.

For context, on September 25-26, the 9th annual meeting of the AIIB Board of Directors is being held in Samarkand. The two-day summit is anticipated to host high-level delegations from over 100 countries, as well as leaders and representatives of the AIIB, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and other international organizations. More than 2,000 participants, including managers from leading global companies and prominent experts, are expected to attend.

It is worth noting that earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening session of the meeting, where he highlighted the increasing need for major regional infrastructure projects. He pointed out the construction of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway as a prime example of such cooperation.
