The construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is set to commence in October this year, as announced by Azamat Sakiev, director of the national enterprise "Kyrgyz Temir Jolu," during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of Kyrgyzstan.

Sakiev mentioned that the construction is expected to take approximately six years to complete.

"We have confirmed the timeline by signing the Roadmap, which outlines the operational period for the joint venture," stated Azamat Sakiyev.

He also highlighted that the governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan plan to sign an investment agreement in September 2024.

In January 2023, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction coordination office was established in Bishkek to facilitate and expedite the construction process. The China Railway Construction Corporation's design and research institute is developing the project's technical and economic foundations.

The project is estimated to cost $4.7 billion. The Kyrgyz Republic aims to secure a loan from Chinese banks to finance the construction.

Additionally, on June 19, the Kyrgyzstan parliament ratified the tripartite agreement with China and Uzbekistan for the railway's construction.
