Earlier, it was reported that the Football Association of Uzbekistan had reached an agreement with Italian coach Fabio Cannavaro. Now, the coach’s annual salary has been revealed. According to Sport-Express, the 52-year-old coach will earn approximately 4 million euros per year, including coaching-related expenses.
Cannavaro did not immediately agree to work in Uzbekistan, as he was initially waiting for an offer from Italy or another European country. The 2006 World Cup champion also showed interest in managing the Kazakhstan national team. Eventually, Cannavaro is expected to accept Uzbekistan’s offer and sign a one-year contract. If the Uzbekistan national team achieves positive results during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Fabio hopes either to return to Europe or to extend his contract with Uzbekistan.
The 52-year-old coach’s last position was with Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, where he worked for six months. Reports indicate that Cannavaro’s annual salary at Dinamo Zagreb was 1.5 million euros, while his coaching staff collectively earned an additional 500 thousand euros per year.
For reference, the 2006 Ballon d’Or winner earned 12 million euros per year while managing Guangzhou Evergrande, making him the highest-paid coach in the Chinese Super League at that time. This remains the highest salary Cannavaro has received in his coaching career.
