Fabio Cannavaro has agreed to become the new head coach of the Uzbekistan national team. This was reported by renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano.
“A verbal agreement has been reached between the parties, and official procedures are now expected. Cannavaro will manage the Uzbekistan national team at the 2026 World Cup,” the report said.
According to the source, the main documents will be reviewed within the next 24 to 48 hours.
For reference, after completing his playing career, Fabio Cannavaro managed clubs in the Middle East and China. In 2019, he was appointed head coach of the Chinese national team. From 2022 to 2023, he worked as head coach of the Italian club Benevento. In April 2024, he took charge of Italian side Udinese and served there for a period. Cannavaro also managed Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb. He has been unemployed since April 9 of this year.
It is worth noting that earlier, Italian journalist and insider Nicolo Schira reported that Fabio Cannavaro could lead the Uzbekistan national team in a match against Uruguay on October 13 this year.
