3848Low-income families will automatically receive a one-time compensation for gas and electricity expenses, as reported by the National Social Protection Agency.
This initiative aims to partially offset the increased costs of utility bills during the heating season. The government has allocated 370 billion soums for this purpose, benefiting approximately 1.4 million needy families. By the end of October, the "Inson" social services center, neighborhood associations, and local mayors will compile a list of eligible recipients.
Utility costs typically rise during the heating season from November to February. To assist those in need, the state will provide a one-time payment of 270,000 soums per eligible family. This assistance will be distributed through two lists:
- Main List: Families receiving child allowances and/or financial aid through the "Unified Social Protection Register," totaling 1.2 million families.
- Supplementary List: Other needy individuals, comprising 180,000 families.
This compensation is intended to help mitigate the impact of rising gas and electricity rates.
Notably, if a citizen receives an allowance for a child with a disability, they will not be included in the main list but may qualify for the supplementary list.
Additionally, families with multiple members can receive extra compensation for gas and electricity usage that exceeds the social norm. Both compensations will assist in covering utility costs during the winter months.
For families enrolled in the "Unified Social Protection Register," the compensation will be automatically credited to their accounts. If multiple families share an account within the register, each family will still receive the full amount of 270,000 soums.
"Citizens receiving allowances for multiple children will not receive additional compensation; the amount remains fixed at 270,000 soums, regardless of family size or circumstances," the report states.
Low-income individuals on the supplementary list, including those who have lost their primary earners, single mothers, and disabled persons, will also receive this one-time compensation.
"This one-time aid is just one of the many support measures provided by the state. During the heating season, low-income families will also receive compensation for electricity and gas usage that exceeds the established social norms," the report states.
