In Surkhandarya region, administrative fines have been imposed on individuals who captured a wolf, treated it cruelly, and killed it. This was reported by the regional Department of Ecology.

According to the report, officials of the Surkhandarya Regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change conducted a prompt investigation into the incident. It was established that the case occurred on December 10, 2025, in the Beshkapa mahalla of Uzun district. At the time, a citizen was grazing his small livestock (sheep) in a hilly area when they were attacked by a wolf.

According to the shepherd, he pursued the wolf in an attempt to protect and save part of his livestock, as a result of which the wolf was killed.

As a result of the individual’s actions, violations of Article 33 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Protection and Use of Wildlife” were identified. Liability measures were applied in accordance with Article 53 of the same law.

Specifically, the citizen was fined under Article 90, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (preparation, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer, or sale of prohibited hunting or fishing tools or means). The fine amounted to 20 times the basic calculation value, totaling 8.24 million soums.

For reference, the wolf is one of the wild animal species protected under the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Protection and Use of Wildlife.” Cruel treatment, torture, or other illegal actions against such animals are prohibited under current legislation and entail liability in accordance with established procedures.
