Anvar Normamatov, the governor of Kumkurgan district in Surkhandarya region, suggested using dung as an alternative fuel due to the “lack of gas supply.” He made this statement on September 12 this year during the 10th session of the Kumkurgan District Council of People’s Deputies.
“According to scientists and specialists, this winter is expected to be cold. Therefore, we must prepare accordingly so that people do not suffer during snowy and rainy days,” the governor said.
He also noted the need to repair utility poles and transformers before the onset of winter, emphasizing that the main issue is related to electricity. Additionally, the head of the Kumkurgan District Gas Branch, I. Mustafoqulov, delivered a report, after which the governor commented on gas supply problems.
“No one is making dung fuel anymore. If you make dung patties and store them properly before the snow comes, you can easily get through winter. Why are we only relying on gas? I’m telling you this so you understand — there’s no gas to depend on,” the governor said.
For reference, Anvar Normamatov was appointed governor of Kumkurgan district in June 2022. He was born on March 10, 1981, in Angor district and graduated from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan in 2003 with a degree in law.
It is worth noting that earlier, in Boysun district of Surkhandarya region, unrest broke out when some residents gathered at a coal storage facility and tried to obtain coal outside the designated distribution schedule.
