Fines for deliberately drying trees are increased in Uzbekistan

Earlier, we reported that a healthy plane tree was cut down without any reason in the city of Kokand, Fergana region, causing damage of 117 million soums to the local flora. Citizens involved in this act were arrested, as reported by the regional Ecology Department.

Following widespread reports on social media about the tree being cut down, an investigation was launched by the Fergana regional prosecutor's office, the Kokand City Department of the Ecology Department, and the Internal Affairs Department in the Zilol neighborhood.

The investigation revealed that two individuals from Kaltasoy village, Farovan neighborhood in the Uchkuprik district, were responsible. On February 13, they intentionally damaged and felled the plane tree standing in front of apartment buildings.

Both individuals were arrested and sentenced to administrative detention for violating Article 183 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (petty hooliganism). Additionally, a criminal case was filed under Article 198 of the Criminal Code (illegal cutting or damage to trees and shrubs in green zones).

It should be noted that a similar incident occurred earlier in the Samarkand region, where a bush of perennial plane trees was illegally cut down by a resident, causing 115,125,000 soums of damage to nature.
