A 35-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan has been sentenced for repeatedly raping an 8th-grade student in the Keles district of Kazakhstan's Turkestan region. The court found him guilty and imposed a life imprisonment sentence. The defendant denied the charges. The court's press service reported the decision.

According to the Specialized interdistrict Criminal Court of the Turkestan region, the man was charged under the "Rape" article. He had arrived in Kazakhstan in mid-2024 for construction work.

It was stated that while working at a residence in the Keles district, he took advantage of a girl born in 2011 living in a neighboring house, engaging in sexual acts with her multiple times.

The prosecutor demanded a life sentence, which the court fully granted. The defendant, however, did not admit guilt.

The court found the defendant guilty under part 4 of Article 120 of the Republic of Kazakhstan's Criminal Code and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The verdict was announced on August 25. It is currently unknown whether the defendant will appeal. The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.

It is worth noting that a 26-year-old Uzbek migrant working as a taxi driver was suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl last month, in Russia’s Leningrad region.
