Kazakhstan plans to increase gas transit to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China

Kazakhstan is set to enhance the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and the transit of Turkmen and Uzbek gas to China this year. Almasadam Satkaliyev, Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy, shared this update.

"In October 2023, we started transiting Russian gas to Uzbekistan. We transported 1.28 billion cubic meters in 2023, and we aim to increase this to 3.8 billion cubic meters this year, eventually reaching 11 billion cubic meters annually," Satkaliyev stated during a government meeting.

He also highlighted that the gas transit from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to China is experiencing "sustainable growth."

Satkaliyev reported that Kazakhstan intends to raise the total gas transit volume to 37.1 billion cubic meters this year.

The data indicates an increase of 1.5 billion cubic meters in transit to China.

Additionally, the minister mentioned that discussions are ongoing about boosting the transit of Russian gas to Kyrgyzstan.
