The heads of the energy ministries of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of cooperation on the interconnection of the energy systems of the republics within the framework of the Tashkent International Investment Forum. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

"The purpose of the signed memorandum is to define the main conditions of cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the project of interconnecting the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan," the ministry said.

According to the document, the countries will study the possibilities of connecting energy systems by laying high-voltage cables along the bottom of the Caspian Sea and on the territory of other countries.

Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy, Almasadam Satkaliyev, noted that a project of technical conditions for laying a deep-sea cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea had been previously developed.

"The proposed business model for the development of international transmission corridors (financing, income flow, and ownership) and the sale of green energy to EU countries will be developed as part of the technical assignments," says Satkaliyev.

According to him, the main approaches to the implementation of the project have already been agreed upon.
