MES soldier stabs 5 people in Nukus; one dies (video)

On January 3, a private soldier from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) stabbed five people in the city of Nukus, Republic of Karakalpakstan. Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the General Prosecutor's Office, provided details of the incident in response to a request from QALAMPIR.UZ.

The soldier, identified as G.M., a member of the Ministry's Special Engineering Construction Department, 1st Engineering Construction Battalion, 2nd Squad, 5th Group, was reportedly intoxicated when he began his violent attack. At approximately 03:30, G.M. entered a house on Danalar Street in Nukus and retrieved a kitchen knife and a chopstick. The householder was caring for his bride when G.M. attacked his wife, Z.K., stabbing her. Z.K.'s father, D.A., and another relative, R.A., were also attacked with a machete, sustaining varying degrees of injury.

G.M.'s violence continued into the early hours of the morning. At approximately 04:00, he attacked A.S., a resident of a nearby house on Aybuyir Street, while she was closing her door. Afterward, G.M. fled the scene. A.S. contacted her son, S.A., informing him of the attack. When S.A. attempted to confront the stranger, G.M. also injured him.

One victim has died, while the other four require medical attention and are currently hospitalized.

A 20 cm long knife with blood-like stains was recovered from the scene as evidence.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 97 (Murder) and Articles 25, 97 of the Criminal Code. G.M. (born in 2005, Tashkent) has been detained, and the Nukus Military Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the investigation.
