The meeting, chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, continues with the assembly of video selectors in Saykhunobod district of the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan.

It was emphasized that today's gathering would serve as an instructive session for the mayors of 14 regions, 208 districts and cities, along with their deputies, and banks. The President outlined the district's challenges and proposed solutions.

Primarily, it was highlighted that banks' contribution to entrepreneurial development in the district is minimal, despite substantial state funding.

Last year, 120 billion soums were allocated to support entrepreneurship in Saykhunobod. District entrepreneurs enjoyed tax benefits amounting to 85 billion soums. However, these resources have not translated into job creation or poverty reduction as intended.

Only 968 formal jobs were generated in the private sector, indicating that banks prioritize existing clients without facilitating opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. Moreover, project packages are not readily available to the general populace.

In 2023, production volume in Saykhunobod remained stagnant. Funds allocated to enterprises focused on turnover rather than production expansion.

The district's electricity consumption for a product worth 1 million soums is twice the average of other districts in the region, primarily due to the absence of high-value-added production in most neighborhoods.

Despite having 16 buildings with infrastructure, they remain abandoned due to high costs. Additionally, five vacant objects have not been auctioned off for years.

In one neighborhood, essential processes like raw material procurement, processing, and training for production are neglected. Consequently, associations responsible for local industry failed to visit Saykhunobod in 2023 and have no plans to do so this year.

The district's significant potential lies in its land resources, yet only 10% are utilized, primarily for alfalfa and maize cultivation.

The perception of free water due to Syrdarya's presence in the district has led to inefficiencies in water usage.

89 paddy farms lack necessary equipment like laser levelers and counters, resulting in low productivity in rice fields.

Only 61% of the canal concreting plan has been executed, marking the lowest progress in the region.

The President proposed solutions, including tasking 17 thousand households with launching small industries and services to enhance community profitability. Additionally, officials will develop a technical and economic framework for 19 neighborhoods and 794 streets using the allocated 200 billion soums for entrepreneurship this year. Furthermore, specific employment targets in agriculture, industry, trade, and services will be set based on neighborhood directives.
