In the Andijan region, the court has sentenced individuals involved in the illegal smuggling of drugs valued at 1,616,802,000 soums. This was reported by the State Security Service.

It was noted that 43-year-old A.D., a resident of Karasuv, Andijan region, who had a prior conviction, along with a classmate, Sh.J., smuggled 87 types of drugs including "Fokusin," "Dopegit," "Cogitum," and "Erinit," among others, into Uzbekistan from individuals in Kyrgyzstan in August 2023, crossing the state border illegally. The State Security Service, in collaboration with customs authorities, apprehended them with the contraband in their possession.

An assessment by an LLC engaged in evaluation activities estimated the total value of the smuggled medicines at 1,616,802,000 soums.

Additionally, according to the conclusion of an expert examination by the Pharmaceutical Products Safety Center of the Ministry of Health, a portion of these drugs were not registered in the state registry of medical devices and equipment, nor were certificates of compliance issued for them.

It should be noted that A.D. had previously been criminally charged for illegal currency transfers and customs violations as part of an organized group.

As a result of this case, the Investigation Department of the Andijan Region Department of the State Security Service initiated criminal proceedings against A.D. and Sh.J. under Article 182, Part 2, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code, and conducted further investigative actions.

"The Korgontepa District Court on criminal cases sentenced A.D. to 5 years and Sh.J. to 3 years in prison," the report stated.

It should also be noted that earlier, powerful drugs smuggled from the Kyrgyz Republic were confiscated.
