5956The Kyrgyz Republic has announced plans to strengthen traffic control at certain checkpoints along its borders with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. This initiative was reported by Kazinform.
A draft resolution on the matter has been submitted for public discussion. Currently, traffic control on the Kyrgyz section of the external border of the Eurasian Economic Union is conducted at checkpoints such as Torugart-Avtodorojnyi and Irkishtom-Avtodorojnyi (China), as well as Karamik-Avtodorojnyi, Kyzyl-Bel-Avtodorojnyi, and Kulundu-Avtodorojnyi.
However, transport control is not implemented at the "Kayragoch" and "Bor-Dobo" checkpoints (Tajikistan), as well as "Kyzyl-Kiya," "Qara-Bagish," and "Ken-Soy" (Uzbekistan) along the Kyrgyz-Tajik and Kyrgyz-Uzbek state borders.
Authorities note that these checkpoints are frequently used for transporting goods not only for bilateral trade but also for transit to Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and other countries. This has led to violations of international agreements on road transport regulations.
Under international agreements, foreign road carriers must obtain proper permits for entry into Kyrgyzstan and transit. Violations of these agreements, including unauthorized entry without the necessary permits, could result in a ban on entry into Kyrgyzstan.
To address these concerns, the government has proposed amendments to the list of border checkpoints with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, aiming to enhance control over international road transport operations.
