Officials Sell Cemetery Land in Kashkadarya

The Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported that in the Kashkadarya region, officials involved in illegally selling cemetery land owned by the territory, were arrested.

It has come to our attention that officials from the commission responsible for land allocation in the Koson district have unlawfully granted 0.33 hectares of land to individuals and entrepreneurs from the "Eshoni Koson" cemetery area, situated at the heart of the district.  This action directly violates the stipulations of the law.  The construction of the "Kushxona" (butcher shop), "Savdo dukoni" (market), and "Omborxona" (warehouse) on the cemetery's premises has resulted in damages totaling 146 soms.

In response to this situation, the regional prosecutor's office has launched a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 205, Clause "a" of Part 2 of Article 209, and Clause "a" of Part 2 of Article 229-4.  It is essential to recall that on 22nd of February this year, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued Decree No. PQ-138, which aims to enhance the efficacy of state control over land plot utilization.
