A new tourist destination will be developed in the Qamchiq Pass, which runs through the Namangan region. This was reported by the regional administration’s press service.
According to the information, a modern cableway and recreational complex will be built in the part of the pass that connects the Fergana Valley with Tashkent through the Namangan region. The project will cover an area of 90 hectares and will be implemented by Austria’s Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group.
On October 13 this year, Namangan regional governor Shavkatjon Abdurazzoqov met with representatives of the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group — Johannes Triebnik, Valery Yashin, and Yevgeny Kuprin — to discuss the project’s significance and the planned construction facilities. The report notes that the project is being financed by one of Namangan’s major entrepreneurs, Jobirkhon Kamoliddinov.
For reference, the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group is a large Austrian-Swiss company that designs and manufactures ropeways, gondolas, lifts, and passenger and material transport systems. The group has a broad portfolio of technologies, systems, and services, and has designed more than 15,000 cableways in 96 countries around the world.
It is worth noting that earlier, plans were announced to develop a tourism complex, hotel, restaurant, and entertainment facilities around the Chortoq Reservoir in the Namangan region.
