5271Authorities have issued a safety advisory for drivers traveling through the Qamchiq Pass, urging them to maintain safe speeds and keep adequate distance between vehicles. The warning was shared by “Qamchiqavtoyo‘l IYFK.”
Heavy snowfall has been reported along the A373 highway between the 115th and 163rd kilometers of the route connecting Tashkent, Ohangaron, Angren, Kokand, Shakhrikhon, and Andijon. Current weather conditions include snow, fog, a temperature of -2°C, visibility reduced to 300 meters, wind speeds of 3–16 m/s, and humidity levels at 88%.
The statement advises all drivers using the Kamchyk Pass to consider the current weather conditions and avoid exceeding speed limits while maintaining safe following distances. Drivers are also encouraged to take all necessary precautions to ensure safety.
To facilitate continuous two-way traffic during snowfall, “Qamchiqavtoyo‘l IYFK” has deployed machinery to spread a sand-salt mixture on the road surface and clear snow around the clock. As a result, vehicle movement along the pass is currently being maintained safely.
Earlier, Uzhydromet issued an urgent weather warning about anticipated precipitation and temperature fluctuations from March 6 to 11, increasing the risk of avalanches in the mountainous regions of Uzbekistan.
