On July 19, a female passenger on a flight from Istanbul, Turkey, to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, gave birth to a baby boy. This was reported by QALAMPIR.UZ.
QALAMPIR.UZ contacted Uzbekistan Airways to clarify the situation. The airline confirmed that the woman delivered her baby during the flight.
“The mother and baby are in good condition. Two doctors, who were also traveling as passengers, provided timely medical assistance. The plane made an emergency landing at Urgench Airport,” a representative of Uzbekistan Airways stated.
Upon landing, the mother and newborn were met by medical staff and taken to a local clinic for further care.
It should be noted that this is not the first such incident on an Uzbekistan Airways flight. In April 2023, a Kyrgyz woman suffered a miscarriage on board a Tashkent–Istanbul flight. While entering Turkish airspace, 27-year-old Sitora Abdumannopova went into premature labor at 28 weeks. Passengers, including a doctor, and the cabin crew assisted in the delivery of a baby boy.
Earlier this year, another baby was born on an Uzbekistan Airways flight from Tashkent to New York, prompting an emergency landing in Iceland.
