Gideon Lustig has been appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Uzbekistan, as reported by the Embassy of Israel in Tashkent.
Prior to this, Lustig served at the Israeli Embassy in France and is now undertaking a diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan, as well as in Tajikistan. He began his tenure in Uzbekistan by meeting with the leaders of the Jewish communities in the country.
"One of the priorities during my first week in Tashkent was to meet with the leaders of the local Jewish communities. I would like to extend my gratitude to Vladimir Shapira and Arkady Isakharov for their warm welcome. Jewish communities always feel like a home away from home for me," said the Ambassador.
It is noteworthy that Zeavit Ben-Hillel, who served as Israel's ambassador to Uzbekistan since 2020, completed her mission in mid-July of this year.
