Two men detained for blackmailing a woman over intimate photos

In the Qarovulbazar district of the Bukhara region, two men who demanded 100 million soums from a woman by threatening to expose their romantic relationship have been detained. The regional Department of Internal Affairs reported the incident.

According to the report, a citizen born in 1985, residing in the “Tinchlik” neighborhood of Qarovulbazar district, had previously conspired with his partner from the “Cholquvar” neighborhood. Without the woman’s knowledge, they took intimate photos and videos of her during their relationship in 2024–2025.

The men later demanded 100 million soums from the victim, threatening to inform her family, relatives, workplace, relevant law enforcement agencies, and other organizations about the situation. They also threatened to disclose information meant to remain private and spread false claims intended to damage her reputation.

On August 9 of this year, during a special operation by the Bukhara Regional Department of Internal Affairs and the Qarovulbazar District Department of Internal Affairs, the suspects were caught with material evidence while receiving 40 million soums as part of the agreed payment. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 165 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code, and a preliminary investigation is underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, a 30-year-old woman in the Andijan region was arrested for demanding $14,000 from a man in exchange for not distributing his intimate photos.
