Today, on August 23, an official welcoming ceremony for the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, was held at the "Kuksaroy" state residence in Tashkent, as reported by the President's press service.
The President of Azerbaijan and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva were welcomed by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and his wife, Ziroatkhan Mirziyoyeva.
A guard of honor was arranged in recognition of Ilham Aliyev on the grounds where the national flags of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were displayed. The national anthems of both Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were played. Representatives of the state and government of Uzbekistan were introduced to President Ilham Aliyev, and members of the Azerbaijani delegation were introduced to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
At this time, a private meeting between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan has commenced.
It is worth noting that yesterday, on August 22, at the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva arrived in Uzbekistan.
