Visit of Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan was officially confirmed

5757Earlier, it was reported that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva will visit Uzbekistan on August 22-23. The President’s press service has confirmed this.
According to the program of this state visit, which is being carried out at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, high-level negotiations and the inaugural meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, chaired by the leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, are planned.
It has been reported that the agenda of the summit will include discussions on deepening and expanding the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan strategic partnership and enhancing multilateral cooperation.
The focus will be on increasing mutual trade, developing a new portfolio of cooperation projects, strengthening business relations, including interregional exchanges, maximizing transport and communication potential, and fostering cultural and humanitarian ties.
Additionally, the Presidents are expected to meet with business representatives from both countries and participate in various business and cultural events.
For context, President Ilham Aliyev paid a state visit to Uzbekistan on June 21-22, 2022, after an 11-year hiatus. On September 15-16, he visited Samarkand as an honored guest to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Later that year, in November, President Ilham Aliyev, accompanied by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, returned to Uzbekistan to attend the summit of the Organization of Turkic-speaking States in Samarkand.
In August of last year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and First Lady Ziroatkhan Mirziyoyeva made a state visit to Azerbaijan. During their visit, they also traveled to Karabakh, where they inaugurated School No. 1, named after Mirzo Ulugbek, built by Uzbekistan in the city of Fuzuli.
On November 8, President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Tashkent to participate in the Economic Cooperation Organization summit.
On November 24, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Baku to attend the first summit of the UN Special Program for Central Asian Economies (SPECA). On July 5 of this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a working visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in Shusha, at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev.
