Official silence on Gulnara Karimova’s penal colony transfer

Gulnara Karimova, the eldest daughter of Uzbekistan's First President, Islam Karimov, has been transferred to a penal colony in the Zangiota district of the Tashkent region. This information was reported by QALAMPIR.UZ.
In an effort to verify the report, QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the press secretary of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Shohrukh Giyasov. However, Giyasov stated that the matter concerns personal information, and he could not provide details about Gulnara Karimova.
As of now, no official agencies have disclosed information regarding Karimova’s current location, the institution where she is serving her sentence, or the expected duration of her imprisonment. Meanwhile, several media outlets, citing anonymous sources, claim that the 52-year-old has been transferred from a women’s prison to a penal colony.
