Uzbekistan national team head coach Fabio Cannavaro said his team would take the field to win the match against Congo in the final round of the World Cup group stage. Cannavaro spoke about this at a pre-match press conference.

The Italian specialist commented on the opponent, emphasizing that Congo is a strong and experienced team.

“Congo are a very good team. They are experienced and physically well prepared. However, we will try to beat them. Tomorrow’s match will be different because in the first two rounds we played against opponents of the highest level. We analyzed the last match and drew conclusions,” Cannavaro said.

The Uzbekistan national team coach also separately commented on the choice of goalkeepers.

“Yusupov performed well in the first match. We also wanted to give another goalkeeper a chance. We have three high-level goalkeepers in our team. I am trying to give every player an opportunity because this is important experience for them,” he said.

According to the coach, the World Cup is becoming a major learning experience for Uzbekistan national team.

“We are learning a lot in this tournament. We can grow as a team because we are playing against high-level opponents. Tomorrow’s match will also serve our development,” Cannavaro added.

The Italian specialist also noted that he had tried to take pressure off the players.

“From the very first days, I told the players that they should not feel pressure. Even after the draw, I emphasized that they should play freely.”

He also said the team would take the field against Congo to win.

“We played against very strong opponents in the first two matches. Therefore, tomorrow’s match will be different. As a coach, I will try to improve the quality of the game and help the players. We will use every opportunity we have and try to win,” Fabio Cannavaro said.

Earlier, it was reported that the match between Uzbekistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo will begin tomorrow, June 28, at 4:30 Tashkent time. To continue its World Cup campaign, Uzbekistan must defeat its opponent by a five-goal margin. Any victory will be enough for DR Congo to qualify for the playoffs.
