4476The Ministry of Emergencies has issued recommendations for avoiding sunstroke, which may occur due to the sudden heating of the days.
It is known that the sudden warming of the weather affects children, the elderly, and the sick. Even healthy people must follow some rules. Sunstroke occurs outdoors in direct sunlight but can begin 6-8 hours after exposure to heat.
According to the MEM, it is necessary to observe several rules to avoid sunstroke:
- Avoid direct sunlight between 10:00 and 17:00 as much as possible.
- Wear clothes made of natural fabrics (cotton, hemp, etc.).
- Wear a light, brightly colored hat and sunglasses.
- Adhere to a proper water-drinking regime. Drinking large amounts of water indiscriminately not only quenches thirst well but also strains the heart.
- Use sun protection creams.
- Shower or dry off with a wet towel after returning from sun exposure.
- Avoid being in the sun on an empty stomach or immediately after eating.
Symptoms of sunstroke or heatstroke:
- Weakness, fatigue, headache, and thirst
- Dizziness, ringing in the ears, pain in the whole body, accelerated pulse and breathing, sometimes nausea and vomiting, increased sweating, and nosebleeds
- Severe disturbance of cardiovascular activity and breathing, unconsciousness
- Sometimes seizures, delirium, and hallucinations
In severe cases, sweating stops, and if the patient does not receive medical help, breathing, and heart may stop
First aid for sun or heat stroke:
The correct provision of first aid can save a person's life. The main thing is to act correctly and quickly without losing composure.
- Transfer the patient to a cool place, lay them on their back, raise their head slightly, remove their clothes, create a completely quiet environment, and ensure fresh air.
- If the patient is conscious, give them bitter tea or cold water (it is better to add 0.5 teaspoons of salt to 0.5 liters of water).
- Wet the head with cold water or put a wet towel on the head.
- In severe cases, it is possible to wrap the patient with a wet sheet or pour cold water over them, but be careful (the body temperature should not fall below 30 degrees). If possible, place a container filled with ice or cold water on the armpits, groin, and behind the knees, where there are many blood vessels.
- It is necessary to take patients with sunstroke or heat stroke to the nearest medical facility. In severe cases, call an ambulance immediately. The sudden warming of the weather affects children, the elderly, and the sick. Even healthy people must follow some rules. Sunstroke occurs outdoors in direct sunlight but can begin 6-8 hours after exposure to heat.
It should be noted that Uzgidromet reported very hot weather is expected in Uzbekistan on July 25-29.
