Leaders of Central Asian countries' Emergency Ministries meet in Kyrgyzstan

3657Ministers of Emergency Situations from Central Asian Republics convened in Cholpon-Ota, Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During his address, the head of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations, Boobek Ajikeev, highlighted the region's vulnerability to natural disasters.
"Central Asia remains a vulnerable region, constantly exposed to natural disasters ranging from earthquakes to landslides and floods," he stated.
The Kyrgyz minister stressed the importance of this meeting for fostering constructive dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of information and experiences, to protect the population and regions from both natural and man-made emergencies.
According to the press service, in addition to the ministers, representatives of UN agencies, donors, and international and non-governmental organizations are also participating in the meeting.
The leaders of the Ministries of Emergency Situations from the Central Asian countries discussed issues related to reducing the risk of natural disasters, strengthening regional cooperation in emergency management, and implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in the region.
