Teacher who installed a hidden camera at the skills center in Fergana apologizes

A video showing a hidden camera in one of the rooms at the Fergana Pedagogical Skills Center in the Fergana region has spread on social networks. The incident was reported by the Regional Department of Internal Affairs.

The camera was concealed in a handmade housing placed above a wardrobe in the room. It was discovered by teachers attending the center for training courses. They recorded a video of the situation, claiming the camera was used for secret filming, and raised concerns that it might have captured footage of women and girls in the room.

The situation is currently being investigated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Fergana region. During the investigation, it was revealed that the rooms were not dressing rooms for women but classrooms where lessons were held. The camera was installed by one of the center’s teachers.

"The surveillance camera was installed because the main camera in that classroom was not working. I am a teaching assistant. Our department has six classrooms, and we don’t have any dressing rooms at the center. The only mistake we made was not placing the camera openly. I didn’t anticipate that this would cause such a stir. Of course, we will correct this mistake. I’m sorry, I apologize. My intention was only to monitor the lesson process," said the teacher who installed the camera.

According to an official statement from the situation center, the circumstances were reviewed by officials from the regional center.

"On September 12, teachers attending the regional center found a small, handmade housing with a camera inside in auditorium No. 34. They reported the matter to the center's officials. On the same day, the administration reached out to law enforcement for assistance, as the purpose of the camera was unclear," the statement said.

This incident is being handled according to the relevant laws under the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

Recently, it was also reported that a surveillance camera was installed at the Shahrikhan Medical Association in Andijan region. Additionally, four individuals who installed a camera in the girls' room at Kokand State Pedagogical Institute were fined.
