Medical association head in Fergana sentenced to 3 years in prison

A court in Fergana Region has sentenced the head of a medical association who demanded money from a citizen in exchange for employment. This was reported by the Hudud information program.

According to the report, a citizen who had been working informally as an assistant IT specialist at the Uzbekistan District Medical Association until October 2025 applied to the head of the association with a request to be officially employed as an information technology operator. In return for resolving the issue, the official demanded USD 500.

Based on the citizen’s complaint, оператив measures were carried out by the Fergana Regional Department of the State Security Service in cooperation with relevant agencies. During the operation, the head of the medical association was detained while receiving the agreed amount of money, with material evidence seized.

The case was examined by the Uzbekistan District Criminal Court. Under the court’s verdict, the former head of the medical association was found guilty under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and banned for two years from holding managerial or financially responsible positions in state-owned enterprises, institutions, and organizations.

It is worth recalling that earlier reports stated that 114 people were imprisoned in Uzbekistan in 2025 for accepting bribes.
