A criminal case against a man who killed an acquaintance in Fergana has been reclassified as intentional homicide, which may result in a life sentence. This was reported by Hayot Shamsutdinov, press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Initially, a case had been opened under Part 3 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm). However, after a prosecutorial review, the case has been requalified under Article 97 of the Criminal Code (intentional homicide).

The Prosecutor’s Office studied the case materials in supervisory procedure and determined that the accused’s actions showed clear signs of premeditated murder.

Investigative actions are currently ongoing.

Legal context
