On February 20 of this year, citizen Sh.V., while driving a Chevrolet Spark on the "Qoqon-Mulkobod-Gulbog-Pungan" highway section passing through the Dangara district, lost control and struck five people walking on the side of the road. During the investigation, it was revealed that the 26-year-old driver, who fled the scene, was under the influence of alcohol. The chemical examination conducted by the court confirmed the presence of ethyl alcohol and the powerful medication "tropicamide" in the driver's urine.

As a result of the accident, citizens U.I. and K.I. died at the scene. D.I. and U.Y. succumbed to their injuries in the hospital despite medical assistance.

In the court proceedings, the driver was found guilty under Article 117, Part 3, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code (leaving at risk causing the death of people) and Article 266, Part 3, Clause "a" (violation of safety rules for vehicle operation, resulting in the death of people). He was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment and deprived of the right to drive all types of vehicles for three years. The punishment will be served in a penal colony.
