Writer Isfandiyor passes away at age 79

On November 23, Isfandiyor Kimsan o‘g‘li Matkarimov, a member of the Uzbekistan Writers’ Union, writer, and lawyer, passed away at the age of 79, the Union reported.

Born in 1946 in Margilan, Matkarimov graduated from the Fergana State Pedagogical Institute in 1969, the Fergana Music School in 1971, the prose department of the Gorky Literature Institute in 1978, the Higher Screenwriting Course under “Dovlatkino” in 1981, and the Tashkent State Law Institute in 1997. He worked as an attorney from 1996 onward.

Matkarimov authored around ten short stories and novels, including "Saraton", "Meni Tongda Uygo‘ting", "Qasam", "Qasoskor", "Khun", "Qaytish", "O‘g‘ri", and "Inqiroz Yoxud Generalar O‘yini".

As a playwright, he created stage works such as "Otasining Qizi", "Ishonmasang O‘laman, Hotin", "G‘aroyib Dori", and "Sening Taqdiring". As a screenwriter, he contributed to films including "XX Asr Dinozavrlari", "Qon Ila Yo‘grilgan Muhabbat", and "Loqaydlik Mezoni".

Earlier, Uzbekistan mourned the passing of Mirabbos Mirzaahmedov, an Honored Cultural Worker, Honorary TV Artist, and recipient of the "Mehnat Shuhrati" Order.
