June 2025, like most Junes of the 21st century, was hot and extremely dry. This was reported by Uzhydromet.
According to the agency, the average monthly temperature was 1–2 degrees above normal, and in some areas of the Tashkent region, it exceeded the norm by 2.2–2.5 degrees. Only the northwestern part of the country experienced temperatures close to the climatic norm.
In the central and eastern regions of Uzbekistan, June 2025 ranked among the five warmest Junes in the history of meteorological observations.
Throughout most of the month, daytime temperatures ranged from 33 to 38 degrees Celsius. On the hottest days, temperatures rose to 39–41 degrees, and in the southern and desert regions, they reached 42–44 degrees.
During brief heatwave interruptions, daytime temperatures dropped to 27–30 degrees Celsius, and even in the far south, they did not exceed 32–34 degrees. However, these milder conditions were short-lived.
Despite the heat, the maximum temperatures in June did not break historical records. Long-term data shows that the highest June temperatures in Uzbekistan have reached 42–45 degrees, and up to 46–47 degrees in the south and desert zones. The absolute highest temperature ever recorded in the country was 49.6 degrees in Termez in 1914.
The absolute maximum for June in Tashkent, also recorded in 1914, remains 43 degrees Celsius.
Last June was also extremely dry. Rainfall was rare and generally light.
Only in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (excluding Ustyurt), Khorezm, and the Fergana regions, as well as some mountainous areas, were localized heavy rains observed, with precipitation levels ranging from 9 to 31 mm.
Heavy rains led to mudflows in the foothill and mountainous regions of Jizzakh, Surkhandarya, and parts of the Fergana Valley.
In most regions, the total monthly precipitation amounted to just 0.0–5 mm, while in some areas it reached 6–8 mm.
More frequent rains occurred in the foothill and mountainous zones, where precipitation totals for June reached 25–30 mm, and even 45–55 mm in parts of the Tashkent and Fergana mountain regions.
In various parts of the country, wind speeds reached 15–20 m/s, and in Ustyurt, they peaked at 22 m/s. Dust clouds and dust storms were also observed in some areas.
Let us recall that this year’s summer began with dry and moderately warm conditions.
