On June 11, the Iran-Uzbekistan match took place as part of the World Cup qualifiers.
The match for the Group "E" victory at “Azadi" Stadium in Tehran ended in a goalless draw. Both Uzbekistan and Iran, each accumulating 14 points, advanced to the 3rd round of qualification.
Iran secured 1st place in the group due to a superior goal difference. In the 3rd round, the teams will be divided into three groups and will compete for spots in the World Championship.
The 3rd stage games are set to begin in September. Seven teams from Asia will qualify directly for the World Cup, while one more team will compete for an additional spot.
