In Uzbekistan for 2024, the minimum consumption expenses stand at 621,000 soums per person per month, as stated in the Agency of Statistics reference.
Government decision No. 544 from August 27, 2021, outlines the calculation of minimum consumption expenses in Uzbekistan, setting the figure at 621,000 soums per person per month for 2024 – a 9.3% increase from the previous year. In July 2023, this amount rose from 498,000 soums to 568,000 soums. It was 498,000 soums in January 2022 and 440,000 soums in 2021.
The poverty line, derived from minimum consumption expenses, serves several purposes:
- Identifying the target group for state-provided material and social assistance.
- Determining the country's poverty line, considering real consumption characteristics and population requirements in the target group.
- Enhancing the effectiveness and targeting of strategies and programs to combat poverty, with continuous monitoring.
- Acting as a criterion for establishing minimum pensions, allowances, and financial aid to impoverished families.
As of July 18, 2023, the estimated poverty line in Uzbekistan, based on minimum consumption expenditure, is set at 568,000 soums per person per month.
