5619In a significant shift toward integrating shooting sports into education, practical training on the tactical and technical aspects of firearms will soon be part of Uzbekistan's school curriculum. This development comes as a result of the presidential decree, "On Measures for Further Development and Popularization of Shooting Sports," signed on November 4.
Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, general secondary schools will incorporate:
- Practical exercises on the “tactical and technical description of firearms and pneumatic sports weapons” within the pre-draft primary training courses.
- Access to military units, institutions, and training grounds to facilitate these practical sessions.
Moreover, dedicated shooting sports facilities for 10-meter airgun training will be established at Olympic and Paralympic centers, fully equipped with modern sports gear.
To expand higher education opportunities, the State University of Physical Education and Sports of Uzbekistan will launch a bachelor’s program in “Sports Activities: Shooting and Trap Shooting” by the 2025-2026 academic year. This program will aim to foster specialized expertise in shooting sports.
Additionally, national training programs for coaches, selectors, and referees in shooting sports will see ongoing development through seminars, workshops, and masterclasses led by both local and international experts.
From 2025 onwards, annual shooting events will include:
- The “Mergan” Cup, is a shooting competition for military and law enforcement officers.
- The Uzbekistan Shooting Championships covers various age categories.
- In line with this initiative, shooting sports clubs will gradually be introduced in sports schools across districts and cities, making shooting sports more accessible to youth in Uzbekistan.
