A presidential decree on the production of electric cars is developed

The draft resolution of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On measures to support the organization of production and operation of electric vehicles» has been submitted for discussion.

According to the regulation, in order to ensure the popularity of electric vehicles in the country, establish its market and provide the necessary infrastructure for the use of electric vehicles:

- importing energy-efficient and clean electric vehicles that meet international standards based on the best practices of foreign countries and expanding their use to private, public and public transport organizations;
- review existing legislation and infrastructure in the country, encourage the state to support the purchase of electric vehicles and create the necessary conditions for their use;
- as part of the development of the «green» economy, it is planned to create a system of incentives for the development, production, and financing of the «green» energy products, including tax and customs benefits for legal entities and individuals.

At the same time, in order to start the production of electric vehicles in the country and to ensure that by 2030 at least 15% of cars sold in the country are electric cars:

- the development of components and spare parts for electric vehicles based on the country’s natural resources (lithium, graphite, and copper) and establishment of a service system for electric vehicles in order to organize the production of electric vehicles in the country and increase their competitiveness;
- create a full cycle of production of electric vehicles and components, launch the production of power stations based on the copper industry cluster and create a system of incentives and support for the creation of innovative research projects and design offices.
- development of a personnel system for the industry.
Also, for the creation and development of a competitive environment in the field of electric vehicles:
- increase the number of electric vehicle manufacturers in the country;
- introduction of common rules for all participants in the market of electric vehicles.
