State Security Service seizes over 7 kg of narcotics in Fergana operation

5539The State Security Service (SSS) has detained eight individuals involved in illegal drug trafficking during a series of operations in the Fergana region. The arrests led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, including hashish and opium, which had been smuggled into Uzbekistan from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
In one case, a Fergana resident (born in 2003) was caught with 2 kilograms and 992 grams of hashish in his apartment. Authorities discovered that he had planned to sell drugs imported from Tajikistan to buyers in Fergana.
In another incident, a Tajik citizen (born in 1984) and three previously convicted accomplices were detained in Namangan’s Pop district while transporting 1 kilogram and 977 grams of hashish. The drugs had been hidden by Tajik traffickers along a roadside and were intended for buyers in Fergana, Margilan, and the Oltiariq district.
Additionally, in Kokand, a previously convicted man (born in 2003) and his spouse (born in 2004) were detained for drug trafficking. Authorities seized 1 kilogram and 924 grams of hashish, which had also been smuggled from Tajikistan.
In another case, a repeat offender (born in 1988) was stopped in Kokand while driving a Kombi vehicle. A search of the car’s trunk led to the discovery of 966 grams of hashish and 976 grams of opium, which had been smuggled from Kyrgyzstan.
Criminal cases have been opened against all the detained individuals under Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, and investigations are ongoing.
It is worth noting that during the “Oriat” and “Qaradori” operations held on February 5-7, security forces raided public establishments such as nightclubs, saunas, hotels, and massage parlors. A total of 93 criminal cases were initiated, 94 individuals were charged, and 53 wanted criminals were detained. Authorities also seized 18 illegal firearms, 126 cold weapons, and a Makarov pistol with ammunition in Tashkent.
