Starting from May 1, 2025, Uzbekistan has expanded its compensation program for gas and electricity payments to support needy families across the country. Unlike before, when compensation was only provided during the winter months (November–February), it will now be paid monthly throughout the year. This was reported by the National Agency for Social Protection.
Applications from eligible families have been accepted since June 1.
Compensation is available to families who meet the following criteria:
- Families registered in the Unified Register of Social Protection and the Register of Poor Families, with a monthly income per family member below 669,000 soums;
- Families not registered in these databases but who have minimal property and a monthly income per member below 1 million soums.
While 313.6 billion soums were allocated for low-income families during the 2024–2025 heating season, the program is now being expanded, with a total of 1.33 trillion soums planned for compensation in 2025.
Applications can be submitted via the "Inson" social service center, neighborhood social workers, or by calling the 1140 hotline.
It is worth noting that a series of legislative changes took effect in Uzbekistan starting June 1, 2025.
