On August 1, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov received Jesper Vaar, who has been appointed as the new Ambassador of Denmark to Uzbekistan. Saidov shared the update on his official Telegram channel.
“We have received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Danish Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jesper Vaar,” he wrote.
Saidov noted that during their productive meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations, expand cooperation, and develop economic ties, among other areas.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan expressed its readiness for active cooperation to unlock the full potential of our partnership. We sincerely congratulate the Ambassador on his appointment and wish him success in his diplomatic mission,” said Saidov.
Jesper Vaar, 62, is a seasoned diplomat who has held various posts in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassies abroad. He has previously served as ambassador to Turkey, Azerbaijan, Israel, Malaysia, and Iran. Since 2024, he has also been serving as Denmark’s ambassador to Russia.
Vaar replaces Jacob Henningsen, who was accredited as the head of the Danish diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan from 2024 to 2025.
For reference, diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Denmark were officially established on January 25, 1992. Notably, Denmark was the first European country to establish diplomatic ties with Uzbekistan.
Earlier, Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov also received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Siti Ruhaini Juhayatin.
