Parliamentary control over the expenses of the budget distributors is hardly noticeable - Mirziyoyev

In Uzbekistan, parliamentary control over the expenses of the allocators of budget funds is hardly noticeable. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed this issue on November 18 during the first post-election session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

According to the updated Constitution, the control over the execution of the State budget is an exclusive responsibility of the Legislative Chamber. This authority imposes significant responsibility on the deputies.

Mirziyoyev emphasized that the time has come to strengthen the mechanisms for overseeing the State budget's execution. He suggested the need to adopt a practice where all reports from the Government on the state budget are submitted to the chamber along with the audit report, as stipulated in the Budget Code.

Additionally, it was highlighted that the role of parliamentary committees in monitoring the implementation of the state budget should be enhanced. Currently, parliamentary control over the expenses of the first-level budget allocators is barely noticeable. Therefore, the newly elected deputies must adopt a special approach to address this issue.

It is worth mentioning that Mirziyoyev had previously advocated for the revival of the opposition in the Oliy Majlis.
