Authorities arrest suspects in Bostonlik land fraud cases (video)

2505A suspect was detained in Bostonlik district of Tashkent region for attempting to sell 72.6 ar (0.726 hectares) of non-residential land belonging to eight citizens. The suspect valued each ar at $14,900, totaling $1,081,740. This was reported by the State Security Service.
It was noted that during an operational raid conducted by the State Security Service’s Tashkent Region Directorate in collaboration with the Prosecutor General’s Office, two individuals, born in 1980 and 1988, were detained. They had conspired to sell a 20-sotikh land plot, allocated by the district administration to two members of an orchard and viticulture cooperative for building summer homes, in exchange for $230,000. Evidence was collected during the arrest.
Furthermore, during the operation, another individual, born in 1964, who falsely claimed to own the land, was caught accepting the same $230,000 in exchange for transferring the land ownership to the buyer.
Another case in Bostonlik involved a suspect, born in 1996, who agreed to sell a 36 ar land plot allocated in 2008 within the protection zone of the Chirchik River for landscaping and establishing a boat parking area. The suspect demanded $10,000 for processing the documents through contacts in the cadastral system, bringing the total amount to $160,000, and was arrested with evidence during the transaction.
In another case, an individual, born in 1992 and residing in Tashkent, gained the trust of another party and conspired to sell 72.6 ar of non-residential land in Bostonlik belonging to eight citizens, valuing each ar at $14,900 for a total of $1,081,740. The suspect promised to reclassify the land for residential use through contacts with officials and obtain permission to construct multi-story buildings on it in exchange for an additional $10,000. However, the suspect was caught during an operational raid led by the State Security Service, the Economic Crimes Department, and law enforcement agencies after receiving $110,000 in advance.
It was stated that criminal cases have been initiated against the suspects, and investigations are ongoing.
Previously, in Koshrabot district of Samarkand region, a suspect was detained for attempting to sell two hectares of government-reserved land for 100 million soums.
