A person who attempted to take an ancient coin out of the country was apprehended in Bukhara, as reported by the Cultural Heritage Agency.

The incident occurred on February 15 of this year at Bukhara International Airport. A citizen of Uzbekistan, bound for Istanbul, Turkey, attempted to transport the ancient coin out of the country.

According to preliminary information, when customs officers, with the assistance of impartial observers, inspected the passenger's carry-on luggage, they discovered a red metal coin with the denomination of "40 bribes," which was subsequently confiscated.

Upon artistic examination of the coin by staff from the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Bukhara region, it was determined to be minted from red copper with a value of "40 poras," belonging to the reign of Sultan Abdulmajid I of the Ottoman dynasty. The coin is reported to have been minted in Istanbul in 1839.

"The obverse side of the coin bears the date of minting and the inscription 'May the victory of Mahmud Khan bin Abdulhamid Muzaffar be honorable'," the report states.

It is worth noting that in accordance with the regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 23, 1999, "On the export and import of cultural assets," it is recommended to deliver the coin to the reserve of the Bukhara State Museum.

We would like to remind you that previously, in the city of Urganch in the Khorezm region, an individual was apprehended for selling coins from the Khiva Khanate and the Bukhara Emirate period.
