2807At Bukhara Airport, a person attempting to illegally smuggle jewelry made of precious metals and cultural artifacts abroad was apprehended. This was reported by the press service of the Regional Customs Department.
The individual, who planned to fly on the “Bukhara–St. Petersburg” flight, failed to declare jewelry items worth a total of 165 million UZS during verbal questioning by customs officials and did not list them on the passenger customs declaration.
As a result, 37 items of jewelry weighing 226.04 grams and exceeding the permissible export limit, along with 16 historically significant medals and coins, were identified and temporarily confiscated as evidence.
Currently, customs authorities are conducting investigations by established procedures regarding this case.
As a reminder, earlier, an individual in the Bukhara region was caught attempting to smuggle ancient numismatic items out of the country.
