Man detained in Bukhara for illegally storing gunpowder and ammunition

Illegal storage of gunpowder and ammunition was uncovered in the Karakul district of the Bukhara region, the regional customs department reported.

According to the agency, the operation was carried out jointly by officers of the Bukhara regional customs anti-smuggling department, the State Security Service, and the regional Department of Internal Affairs. During the inspection of a local resident’s home, conducted in the presence of witnesses, law enforcement officers found 385 grams of gunpowder and 75 hunting cartridges of various calibers stored in two yellow metal containers.

Authorities reminded that under Article 248 of the Criminal Code, the illegal possession, transportation, or transfer of weapons, ammunition, or explosives constitutes a crime. The Law “On Weapons” and other regulatory acts strictly govern the circulation of such items.

A pre-investigation is currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, during the “Safe and Healthy Capital” special operational and preventive measures in Tashkent, law enforcement seized one combat weapon, 21 pneumatic guns, seven shotguns, and 14 rounds of ammunition from illegal circulation.
