2 members of a family die in a gas explosion in Bukhara

3522A gas explosion in the Bukhara region claimed the lives of two family members and left two others with burn injuries. This was reported by the press secretary of the Prosecutor General's Office, Hayot Shamsutdinov.
The incident occurred on November 17 in an apartment in the Jondor district. A 41-year-old father and mother succumbed to their injuries, while their daughters sustained burn injuries.
On November 22, a criminal case was initiated under Article 259 of the Criminal Code (Violation of Fire Safety Rules). The internal affairs authorities are conducting further investigations into the matter.
It should be noted that from the beginning of 2024 to date, 74 gas-related incidents (compared to 86 in 2023) have been recorded in Uzbekistan. These incidents resulted in 82 deaths (88 in 2023) and 80 injuries (119 in 2023). Many cases involve entire families falling victim to carbon monoxide poisoning due to faulty chimneys.
